Installation of OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard on Gigabyte GA P35-DS3P + update to OS X 10.6.7

This tutorial shows how to install 32bit OS X 10.6.3 on a Gigabyte GA P35-DS3P main board and update to OS  X 10.6.7  with Pentium D processor (Pentium D processor and NVIDIA 7200GS  are the reason why installation should be 32 bit and not 64 bit (owners of dual core or quad core processor and NVIDIA 8xxx cards or later can follow this tutorial and install it with legacy 64 bit vanilla  kernel))

Files needed:
iAtkos s3 ver2 10.6.3 iso image (search torrents) – and burn on DVD
OS X 10.6.7  Combo Update http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL1361/en_US/MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.dmg
Computer Specifications:
MOBO: Gigabyte GA P35-DS3P
MOBO Integrated Sound: Realtek ALC889A (works with voodoo HDA)
MOBO Integrated Network: Realtek 8111B chip (works OOB)
CPU: PENTIUM D 930 SL88S 3GHz (works with 32 bit qoopz kernel)
Graphic Card: NVIDIA 7200GS 256MB (works after editing com.apple.Boot.plist file, 32 bit only, not supported by Mountain Lion 10.8 which is 64bit only! )
HDD: Seagate 80GB SATA
DVD±RW:  SONY OPTIARC AD-7260S, 24x, SATA, Dual layer
RAM: 2 x 1GB Kingston
USB Mouse
USB Keyboard
Monitor should be conected via DVI, not D SUB, must use SATA HDD AND SATA DVD (not ATA), Mouse and Keyboard should be connected via USB…

Installation of retail OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard 64bit on Gigabyte GA EP41-UD3L Updated via software update to 10.6.7

In this tutorial you can find out how to install retail  OS X 10.6.3 64bit on a Gigabyte GA EP41-UD3L main board and update to OS  X 10.6.7  64bit with NVIDIA 8400GS graphic card (should work on other NVIDIA models)

method: Retail DVD (dual layer) installation

Files you will need:
retail OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (you can buy it cheap from http://www.apple.com/macosx/ or search torrents and download free)
GA EP41-UD3L EXTRA PACK – download from here or from here.

Computer Requirements
MOBO: Gigabyte GA EP41-UD3L
MOBO integrated Lan: RTL8111C/D(L) (works with linx2mac driver)
MOBO integrated Audio: Realtek ALC888(works with voodoo HDA 2.7.2 driver)
Graphic card: NVIDIA 8400gs (works after editing com.apple.Boot.plist file, check osx86 project for other compatible graphic cards )
CPU: any core2duo or core2quad processor
SATA HDD
SATA DVD ROM (Dual Layer) ROM
I would recommend you at least 2GB of memory but you can probably do it with 1GB or even less

HOW TO INSTALL OS X Snow Leopard

This tutorial shows default Mac OS X Snow Leopard installation, everything is more less the same for Lion and Mountain Lion, just a slightly different changes in a design.
This is basic and default way to install OS X on Mackintosh machines (installing boot loader and after install procedures are not included cause this is only needed for Hackintosh computers)

So, first boot your copy of a retail DVD, or USB installation media with OS X on it.
When installation screen appears  you will have to select your language and proceed to the next step.

Installation and kexts for ATI Radeon X1800 XL

In this hackintosh tutorial find out how to install ATI Radeon X1800 xl 256mb Graphic card to  OSX 10.6.3  Snow Leopard  ( iAtkos s3 )  32bit ( 64bit not tested ).

First step:  Download this ATI kexts  to your computer.

Second step: Edit Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist file.
To do this first copy com.apple.Boot.plist to your desktop (now you are able to edit the file), open it with text editor and than add this string.

System Tools

Kext Utility is needed to install hardware drivers (kexts) on hackintosh computers. To install, just drag and drop your kext to app, if you already copied your kext file or multiple kexts to /Extra/Extensions or  /System/Library/Extensions/ than just run Kext Utility, enter your password and thats it, Kext utility will automatically  install kexts.

DSDT Editor and Patcher – friendly GUI application used to extract and edit your own dsdt.aml in few simple steps. Follow this How to guide to find out how to extract and compile DSDT.aml with DSDT Editor.

DSDT Patcher automatically extract and modify your DSDT. You can extract the DSDT that is built in to your motherboard manually, with a command-line tool that comes with OS X. The command ioreg will display the I/O Kit registry, which is more than we need.
DSDT will help in proper injection of hardware in OS X !
