This tutorial is for educational purposes only. You, of course, assume all responsibility for choosing to follow this tutorial. Also, OS X EULA states that you can run Snow Leopard on Apple labeled hardware only.

Download GA EP41-UD3L EXTRA PACK and burn “pirate_efi_x_v0.3.iso” to CD (that’s your BOOT CD)

Unplug any hard disk, except one you are using for OSX install… The same thing is with pci cards, remove any pci cards except your graphics card

Turn on your computer, press delete to load bios, choose “LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS” and than change your settings like on pics bellow (not all changes are essentiall, but it’s the way i prefer).

For OS X newbies, Click here to found out how to install OS X, and how to partition your HDD Drive. Important thing is to select “Guid partition table”…

After Install Succeeded, reboot, replace your OS X retail DVD with Pirate EFI CD and boot from CD again

When booted, select your HDD where you installed your OSX, and press enter.

System should start now with cool graphics, enter your keyboard layout, location and registration and you are ready for the next step.

Unzip GA EP41-UD3L Extra Pack you downloaded earlier, and install Chameleon v2.0-RC5 r700.pkg boot loader, choose chameleon pref panel as well, so it will be easier for u to manage boot from Preferences Panel.

Copy Extra folder from GA EP41-UD3L Extra Pack to OS X root folder.

In my case (NVIDIA 8400GS 256MB) I needed to add this lines to Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist file (copy com.apple.Boot.plist to your desktop, so you will be able to edit it)

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>

when line is added, save the file and replace your Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist file with the one on your desktop

Install RTL8111C/D(L)  (double click RealtekRTL81xx-0_0_67%2B.pkg  from GA EP41-UD3L Extra Pack), and restart.

Install Realtek ALC888 (double click VoodooHDA-2.7.2.pkg from GA EP41-UD3L Extra Pack), and restart.

Now your system should be up and ready for use.
You can update it via Software update to 10.6.6

  1. Installing with my file DSDT, do not need some kexts. Note : you need FakeSMC.kext (it’s necessary kext for each Hackintoshes)

OK works, included patches in DSDT :

    – sleep (u dont need SleepEnabler.kext or other kext)
    – restart – reboot (u dont need EvOreboot.kext or other kext )
    – fix issue reset cmos – bios (u dont need ElliottForceLegacyRTC.kext or other kext)
    – Shutdown (u dont need kext for shutdown )
    – AppleIntelCPUManagemet – enable (u dont need NullCpupowermanagement.kext or other disabler)
    – and more fixs

    and you dont need Disabler.kext

NOT add to DSDT patches :

    – audio this built in this mobo (audio work with patched AppleHDA.kext or VoodooHDA.kext)
    – graphics card (work with other kexts – injector or EFI String or GraphicsEnabler … )

Copy this file dsdt.aml to folder /Extra on partition disk with Snow Leopard.

I’m testing this DSDT on 10.6.6

    I’m add kexts use :

    – LAN – RealtekRTL81xx.kext ( RealtekRTL81xx-0_0_67.pkg )
    – AUDIO for ALC 888 , kexts : add ALC8xxHDA.kext , add HDAEnabler.kext , patched AppleHDA.kext

Also DSDT for this mobo GA EP41-UD3L included is in program “DSDT Auto-Patcher” http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=235523

  2. I have the same motherboard rev.3.3 with latest bios, ur procedure doesnt work for me.
I’m stuck in the beginning of the OSX installation, after language selected it simply says “cannot install mac os x on this computer”.

    any ideas?

    cheers.

    1. If you set up your bios the same way i do, problem should be in some other component of your comp. .
your HD? (use SATA, not PATA)
your CPU? (it should be core2duo or quad, not pentium D or older)
      your graphic card?
do you have USB keyboard and USB mouse?

      and so on…

  3. hello
    My mytherboards GA-EP41-UD3L
The problem that i have is that when i complete the installation everything works properly except the fact that my pc don’t restart or turn into sleep mode. What can i do to fix it??
What is DSDT that how can i install it??

Can you make a video tuturial about all these please thanks a lot waiting for you reply..

    1. Check out the BIOS settibgs, did u set acpi suspend type to s3?
what installation method did u use?

    2. to fix restart u can try copy EvOreboot.kext from GA EP41-UD3l extra pack (download link is at top) to your Extra directory, and use kext utility to repair permissions…
note: sleep will not work without dsdt but u can use it without sleep

  4. Hi guys,

same MoBo, Pirate works, SL says after many lines of text: Still waiting for root device….
    any ideas?

    Thanks a lot

    1. Hi jojo,
do u have SATA HDD and DVD?
be sure that HDD is sata 1 and DVD sata2, disconnect any other sata device
in bios set “on chip sata mode” to non combined, “pata ide set to” disabled …
i think that should fix your problem …
