Installation of OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion on PC based computer

This tutorial shows how to install Retail Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 64 bit on a PC based computer. It’s made specific for the Gigabyte GA EP41-UD3L main board, but most of tutorial should work for most intel based main boards and core2duo or later processors. You just need to know exact hardware you use, and than select specific drivers and (if u use) DSDT.aml for your main board. Mountain Lion does not support 32 bit mode anymore…

OSX Boot flags

Well, this is a list of common boot flags for chameleon based bootloaders, I always forget them, so decided to put it here for “once and for all”… feel free to add more flags in comments if you like 🙂

-x  safe boot
-v  boot in verbose mode, to see actual error or kernel panic error
-f   – reload all kext and dump the boot config cache
-s  – single user

-F
If you enter some extra boot flags into org.Chameleon.boot.plist, but they’re messing up your Hackintosh’s bootloader, enter the -F boot flag to ignore them.

-force64
Forces Mac OS X to boot into 64-bit mode.

-legacy
System loads in 32 bit mode while running on 64 bit version of Os X.

Ati Radeon Sapphire HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 on OSX 10.7.4 / 10.8.2

This card should run OOB on hackintosh 10.7.x, and 10.8.x computers, however, not in my case :). If u put GraphicsEnabler=No, as somebody described in some tutorial, everything seems to work perfect, until you try to use DVD, or some software like Ableton or Resolume, or most of the games which crashes instantly. I think that the problem is in ATI d-sub connector, there are also a DVI and HDMI connectors on this card (you should use DVI connector), so probably OS X have a problem with d-sub which is not used any more on mac computers…

Why I like Os X so much???

This video shows boot fight between an 1984 Mac and 2007 32bit-PC Laptop. Judge for yourself! 🙂

I know that the today Services and Programs are made with Authoring-Software, they are not programmed, they are put together by DRAG N DROP… And the old Mac was programmed at the limits of the art of programming… that is why today’s software need more resources. Also today computers use much more apps and services than before.

From that aspect, this video is not really a perfect compare, but anyway, if you compare PC with working Os X vs the same machine running Windows, somehow MAC Os beats Windows in any aspect. Even if it’s not written for specific hardware it behaves more stable, and plug’n’play friendly.

In my case I had an gigabyte motherboard on Windows, and had a blue screen error every now and than. Slow boot was default. After i tried OS X on the same MOBO, everything works perfect, and much quicker. I was already mean to trash it, but with OS X works better than some newer windows PC’s. 🙂
